the horses nicker and neigh in greeting? The joy of looking into those big, brown eyes as you feed treats and stroke
that soft nose? So many people have a life-long dream of riding and enjoying horses, dreams nourished by Black Beauty,
My Friend Flicka or The Black Stallion, but most are never able to live this dream fully. Our mission is
to create an atmosphere of joy and comfort with horses and to provide experiences that can be treasured for
a life-time.
Understanding the horse and the way it communicates, its mannerisms,
its traits and needs, is very important to becoming a confident, comfortable, knowledgeable and well-rounded equestrian.
At Overlook Farm, we pride ourselves in our wholistic approach to developing the rider.
Our mounted instruction is deeply rooted in classical basic dressage
principles. Our approach is one of creating harmonious riding through melding the energy of the horse and rider,
skills that can be transferred to any riding discipline.
We use a variety of experiences, including mounted games, schooling
patterns and trail rides, which keep lessons fun and interesting. Our curriculum also includes non-mounted horsemanship
lessons, and we host several activities throughout the year to give riders a wide range of experience and make everyone part
of the Overlook Farm "barn family."
As students progress, they have the opportunity to earn certificates
of accomplishment and to join our Overlook Farm Show Team or Overlook Farm Trail Riding Team.
